  1. Every year on 23 March, World Meteorological Day is celebrated to mark the official formation of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) in 1950 and to spread awareness about the behaviour of the Earth’s atmosphere and to emphasize the role of individuals and their actions in protecting the atmosphere of the Earth. The theme for World Meteorological Day 2023 is “The Future of Weather, Climate, and Water across Generations”. 
  2. Shaheed Diwas or Martyrs’ Day is observed in India on 23 March every year to pay homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of India. This day marks the anniversary of the execution of three Indian freedom fighters- Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru in 1931 in the Central Jail at Lahore (Now in Pakistan).
  3. In the final of the Irani Cup 2022/23, Team Rest of India continuing their dominant performance defeated Madhya Pradesh by 238 runs and secured their 30th title win in the Indian domestic tournament.  
  4. India was listed among 25 worst terrorism-hit countries as per the 10th edition of Global Terrorism Index 2023. India ranked 13th on the index and Afghanistan remains the country most impacted by terrorism for the fourth consecutive year.
  5. A working committee meeting of the Civil-20 India 2023 Inception Conference started on 20 March, 2023 in Nagpur.
  6. The Indian Navy deployed a P8I aircraft to Guam, USA, on 14 March, 2023, to participate in the third edition of ‘Exercise Sea Dragon 23’, a coordinated multilateral Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) exercise for Long Range MR ASW aircraft organized by the US Navy. The exercise is being held from 15 to 30 March, 2023.
  7. India’s 43-year-old Rohan Bopanna became the oldest ATP Masters 1000 champion when he and his Australian partner Matt Ebden claimed the men’s doubles crown at the BNP Paribas Open.
  8. Labour20 (L20) Engagement group’s inception meet, as part of India’s G20 presidency began deliberations in Amritsar on 19 March, 2023.
  9. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 17 March, 2023 approved for listing of Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) on the stock exchanges.
  10. On 20 March, 2023 Manmeet K Nanda has been appointed as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Invest India, a prestigious organization.  
  11. Singapore Changi Airport has again topped Skytrax’s ranking of the world’s best airports, which was revealed at the 2023 World Airport Awards ceremony.
  12. US President Joe Biden on 21 March, 2023 honoured Indian-American actress-producer Vera Mindy Chokalingam, professionally known as Mindy Kaling with the prestigious 2021 National Medal of Arts.
  13. A two-day workshop on ‘Human Factors Engineering in Military Platforms’ was inaugurated by the Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan on  15 March, 2023 in New Delhi.
  14. According to the recently released 2023 Hurun Global Rich List, Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and the richest man in Asia, is the only Indian to be ranked among the top 10 billionaires in the world.
  15. Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry has invited Urban Local Bodies to participate in the first of its kind initiative City Finance Rankings, 2022.
  16. The three-day Nepal-India Literature Festival concluded with the adoption of a 10-point Biratnagar declaration.
